Join Poppy and step into the dark, Victorian underworld of carnival sideshows. In a fiendish fusion of puppetry, poetry, macabre cabaret and comedy, we meet The Laudanum Sisters, their twisted boss and head showman Edward B. Friday, and delve into his menagerie of misfits, amusements and oddities. Secrets are unearthed as Poppy’s charming, yet disturbing tales unfold, leading us on a spiralling journey of horror and suspense, in this remarkable one woman show where there are no happy endings. A Victorian thriller, based on original concepts by Molly Beth Morossa & Celyn Ebenezer.
"Stunningly atmospheric... has to be seen to be believed" - ★★★★★ Dark Chat
"Properly, sensationally good from start to finish" - ★★★★ Fringe Guru
"Filled with the freshness of Roald Dahl’s Rotten Rhymes and the nauseating monstrosity of Sweeney Todd... if gothic grisliness is right up your street then make your way to the carnival, if you dare!" - Three Weeks
The waves are calm, but somewhere a bell tolls far out to sea... Greywing House sits precariously on the coast keeping watch over a cruel and tumultuous ocean. Miss Amelia has prepared your room, and awaits your arrival to introduce guests both past and present. Breakfast is unfortunately no longer provided as one can never be entirely certain of the time. A few simple rules: no smoking, no pets or animals (excepting, of course, Mr Thurston up the stairs) and no chanting of evocations in communal areas.
Greywing House intertwines dark storytelling, poetry, cabaret and theatrical performance and studies themes of isolation and loss through a classically gothic lens, and is sure to carry you out into deep, dark waters. Proudly featuring an original score by Daniel Cross (of Little Death Machine).
